Nevada Promise Scholarship
The Nevada Promise Scholarship is a great opportunity for all seniors at DHS to apply for. This scholarship pays for the full cost of tuition to attend: Western Nevada College, Truckee Meadows Community College, Great Basin College, or the College of Southern Nevada. One of the great things about this scholarship is that there are no minimum GPA requirements, no financial need requirements, and no 4th-year mathematics requirement. This scholarship instead focuses on scholarship, mentorship, and community service and requires applicants to participate in 8 hours of community service, Nevada Promise Training, fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid), and have a mentor. With the current health crisis and the ensuing changes to traditional in-person education, many students have changed their college plans. This scholarship could be a great opportunity to still attend college while having tuition and fees costs completely covered. If you apply for this scholarship, there is also no obligation to attend and instead gives you just another option for your post-high school plans. I urge you to consider applying for this scholarship. Applications are due October 31st, 2020. Please watch the video below to obtain some more valuable information about this scholarship. Please email Ms. Seitz, the College and Career Coach, if you have any other questions or need assistance: sseitz@lyoncsd.org

Meet Ms. Seitz!
Hello,
My name is Ms. Seitz and I am the new College and Career Coach at Dayton High School. I am very excited to assist DHS students with their post-high school goals and am looking forward to getting to know our students, parents, and the Dayton community. As the College and Career Coach, my role is to help students succeed with their high school education, graduate, and then help set students up for success as they enter the next stage of their lives. Not only am I here to assist with scholarships, financial aid, and college information, but I am also here to assist students with their career and vocational goals both in the local community and through military service.
Throughout this school year, I will continuously make updates on relative college, scholarships, career, and military information so please check back often on this page, the “DHS Scholarship Padlet,” senior google classroom page, and in my office for updates. My office is located in Room 2 and includes relative information on joining the military, local career opportunities, scholarships, and college information. As we move through Fall, more and more information will be sent out to students and parents so please be aware of due dates and different opportunities by checking these resources at least once a week as we move forward. Please feel free to stop in or email me with any questions or concerns. I am always happy to answer any questions you may have and am so excited to help you on your journey!
Best always,
Ms. Stephanie Seitz College and Career Coach sseitz@lyoncsd.org
